Practice Server

ComPACS Practice Server software is a PACS – Picture Archiving and Communication System designed for small networks in multi-physician practices that need a complete workflow solution for images, waveforms and reports.

With the ability of connecting up to 5 different imaging systems of any modality and hosting up to 5 ComPACS or third party Workstations, the Practice server is the perfect solution for mid size practices wishing to view all their studies from a single user interface. In addition, with ComPACS DICOM Web Server, it enables full remote access from anywhere via intranet or a secure internet connection.

The ComPACS Practice Server is enabled with up to 2 TB of local storage in a single volume. Utilizing ComPACS DICOM Archive technology, this allows for on-line, immediate access to studies in a user-friendly interface.

The Practice Server integrates ComPACS Advanced Security Module, a powerful, user configurable security tool to ensure complete safety of your patient’s confidential information in addition to complying with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

ComPACS Security Module can assign data access privileges individually or on multiple group levels ensuring users have access to only see what they need to, and perform actions on that data as their position requires. ComPACS tracks and logs all access and modification history. It tracks access history and can restrict unauthorized viewing.

To ensure compatibility with possible existing IT security, all user accounts are fully integrated with Microsoft® Windows Active Directory. Automatic session and viewer time-outs can be set to match a facilities policy.

ComPACS Security uses a unique new generation study ACL (Access Control List) technology to manage user or group access privileges on each individual study stored in the database. With this novel and granular technology ComPACS facilitates secure Health Information Exchange with other facilities or referring physicians.

ComPACS Practice Server utilizes the ComPACS Archive software technology facilitating exportation of studies to external media with an embedded ComPACS Lite Viewer. This enables referring or attending physicians to view a study on their own PC or on other DICOM viewing applications. Anonymization of studies by masking patient information both in DICOM fields and in image data is also available to ensure exported files for teaching purposes do not compromise patient confidentiality.

Should a facility wish to keep multiple other documents with a patients imaging study, ComPACS Archive allows for attachment of files to a patient folder or study. For example, physician notes in a word processing format or PDF scans can be attached to a file and subsequently retrieved and reviewed.

ComPACS not only assures extensive DICOM conformance but also support and converts to DICOM different proprietary format including Philips-Agilent® TIFF, ATL® DEFF.

As the family of ComPACS Servers meets IHE compliance, with integration modules, reporting can be exported directly from the ComPACS Practice Server into a facility EMR. In synergy with ComPACS HL7 and Worklist Servers, worklist distribution from the EMR through the Practice Server to the imaging systems is also possible eliminating unnecessary man-hours of data input and the potential errors associated with this.

Built-in back-up software facilitates creation of disaster recovery data files while maintaining a permanent patient index. The back-up software also makes possible the removal of old, non-accessed data that has been backed-up, thus maintaining storage space. This reduces the need to create ever-expanding hardware storage for studies, helping keep operational and capital costs down. Should the removed data be required again in the future, the indexing feature instructs the user which media the study is located on for quick recovery and re-loading.

ComPACS Practice server can also automatically route, with configurable rules, studies to an external ComPACS Department or Enterprise Server acting as a deep archive.
